Aqua Vaccinium WordPress theme

My Suckerfish WordPress plugin has turned out to be quite popular, so I have decided to create a theme too!

The theme is called “Aqua Vaccinium”. It was originally intended for use on a clients site, but they have since decided to go with a red theme and use Dreamweaver (ick!) instead of WordPress. The name Vaccinium is the genus for a variety of berries including blue berries which I intend to bake a pie with as soon as this blog post is done. The word Aqua came from the mixture of the blue and green tones of the design.

Testing

The theme hasn’t been tested by anyone but myself as yet, so feel free to critique and nit pick any bugs/errors which you may find. Please post all comments here on this blog post. I’ve tried to keep the theming as simple as possible. So there are only five template files, plus images, javascript and css files. I’ve included the original build file for the logo (PSD format), so you can edit it to match your own site name.

The main menu is a Suckerfish dropdown. It doesn’t need to use my plugin as I have hard coded the dropdown into the theme. It is set to display categories by default, but you can insert other pages into your dropdown if you like (leave a comment if you don’t know how to do this).

The blue section, below the main menu, displays either the blog description or the category description depending on what page you are on.

Examples

Pablo DiCiacco of onewalrus-ink.org has launched a WordPress 2.5 testing site which features the Aqua Vaccinium theme …. One Walrus WordPress 2.5 testing site

Chris Laing has created his own version of Aqua Vaccinium for his personal blog … chrislaing.net

Customisation

The theme is provided on an ‘as is’ basis and if you want any customisation done, you will need to email me via my contact form for a quote.

Pablo - you really threw me with your first comment as I couldn’t think of any possible reason that NextGen would clash with this plugin!

Glad to see you like the theme :) I’ll add your link as an example of the theme in action.

Thanks for promoting my theme :)

Oops! My apologies for the error in that previous comment. The actual culprit is the plugin “Admin-dropdown-menu”. My bad. Bad me!

Great theme with the integrated menu! Thank you.
I have found that the just released NextGen photo gallery and this theme conflict, where if you have the Aqua Vaccinium theme active, you can’t access the gallery administration. No big deal, you just temporarily switch to the WP default theme to admin and then switch back.
I really appreciate your making this publicly available and the menu system is wonderful.

    Hi Kris,
You need to specify a category parent for the categories you want to appear in the dropdown. If you specify a parent of a parent then that category will appear as a flyout.

For example, in the demo site, the “Apple” category is the parent of the “Fuji” category which is a parent of the “Morioka” category.

    Many thanks.

Thanks :) The top menu took quite a bit of messing around to get it working cross browser.

It can also be used as a standard non-dropdown menu.
