Frogner stadion

Skating trip to Frogner stadion in Oslo. The ice surface was super smooth, the temperatures were high and there was more ice than you could possibly imagine (for a rink). A complete lack of fitness and having not skated properly in around nine months left me pretty much dead at the end of my skating stint.

Northern Lights

Harriet Geoghegan and I headed north to the city of Tromsø in northern Norway. Our goal was to see the northern lights, and we duly did :) At first this seemed unlikely as Tromsø was shrouded in cloud, but our friendly northern lights tour guide drove us most of the way to Finland in an attempt to find clear skies. There was still cloud, and apparently what light we could see wasn’t as bright as it often is, but sure enough we saw some green lights bobbing about in the sky as can be seen in the photos below.

Mental note: Take a tripod next time!

Frozen waterfall

Oslo got darned cold for a while. A good demonstration of how chilly it got is this waterfall which was almost totally frozen over.

Aker Brygge harbour

Some photos from the harbour at Aker Brygge in Oslo, Norway.

Nobel Peace Center

There were some protestors outside the Nobel Peace Center when I wandered on past recently. I have no idea what they were protesting about.

Harry and Barney

I share an office with my two friends Harry and Barney Ponsonby. They’re quite awesome and keep me entertained when not working. I snapped some photos of them on a walk with their master Shay Ponsonby at lunch time.

New apartment

People keep asking me what my new apartment in Oslo looks like, so here’s some piccies to keep you happy :)

Cemetery in Oslo

I normally find cemeteries kinda creepy, but there’s something I find very peaceful about them once there’s a nice dump of snow on them. This is one I stumbled across when I got lost walking home from town one day.

Random shit in Oslo!

Some random shit I’ve seen in Oslo recently.
