Road trip to Christchurch
I spent a day packing boxes of lunches for the student volunteer army in Christchurch. We managed to prepare over 17,000 lunches
We in fact prepared so many, that they wouldn’t all fit in the truck being used to transport them to Christchurch, and so Ed Waite and myself carted them up in Ed’s Landcruiser.

The authorities were requesting for out of towners to stay away from Christchurch and not to assist with the quake cleanup, so the only destruction we got to see were some wonky road signs and a couple of area of liquifaction such as this before heading out of town.

Christchurch quake
During the hour after the earthquake in Christchurch on February 22nd 2011, the major New Zealand news sites were suffering overloading/performance problems, so this post was used to distribute photos until the news network sites became usable again.

Swinging Beasts
After playing a round at Stewarts Gully Mini Golf, the Beasts found other ways to stay amused, including swinging and tandem bike riding aroung the golf course.

Stewarts Gully Mini Golf
The Beasts (my ice hockey team) headed to Stewarts Gully Mini Golf. The facility is owned by Clive Murphie, a top bloke who is also heavily involved with the Aardwolfs Ice Hockey Club who we played against in Christchurch. As it says on the label, this is “Mini Golf”, so basically big golf shrunk to a small size, no castles, water features or other fandangled things to navigate, just good old putting greens.

Estelle Baker expertly sinking the ball in the hole after some advice from Jane Soper (on right). Conveniently I clicked the shutter just as the ball was falling into the hole.
Jason Sedgwick kicking some serious butt on the greens
Jane Soper playing catch up
Neil Dudley aiming for 18th hole … from the 1st tee

QE2 park in Christchurch
Family trip to QE2 park in Christchurch some time in the 1980′s.

My first experience driving a go kart. Unfortunately my feet couldn't touch the pedals so Dad needed to ride with me!
