Visit from Kerry

My lovely friend Kerry came to visit me in Oslo :) We went to the local ski jump, but were met with a gloriously wonderful array of fog, fog and a little more fog.

Pizza with Harriet and Anita

Dinner with Harriet and Anita. We nommed down a ridiculous amount of pizza at which point it suddenly dawned on me that I now consider a $100 bottle of wine to be cheap!

Sentrumsløpet

I competed in the Sentrumsløpet today, a 10 km running race around the streets of Oslo. I am the fattest I have been in my life, I am the most out of shape I’ve ever been in my life, I am nursing an achilles heal injury and rather insanely decided that competing in this thing would be a good way to kick my arse off the couch. Well it did kick my arse of the couch indeed, but I swear almost killed me in the process. 61.5 mins later I felt like I was about to pass out. Thankfully there were 4500 smoking hot Norwegian girls to admire enroute, so it was all worth it :)

Below are some photos of my work colleagues and myself.

Bob Skywalker

We have a new member of our office. His name is Bob Skywalker.

Kiwis in Kiwi!

So I moved to the other side of the planet, and one of the first shops I see is called “Kiwi”!!! So I walk in, expecting to see nothing but Kiwi paraphernalia, sheep, rugby crap, buzzy bees etc. and what do I find? … groceries. Groceries, groceries and a few more groceries. Why do they call the grocery shop “Kiwi”? No idea. Norwegians are weird.

In semi-related news, the word “Kiwi” in Brazil refers to a homosexual man with excessive body hair, and in many other countries it is used to refer to “Kiwi fruit”.

Unholy with Liz

My new friend Liz took me to her favourite hangout “Unholy” in Oslo. Good time had by all.

They said winter was over …

The locals told me winter was over and there would be no more snow. Then I awoke to see this outside my bedroom winter …

(this happened quite a few weeks ago, just took me a while to post it)

Frogner stadion

Skating trip to Frogner stadion in Oslo. The ice surface was super smooth, the temperatures were high and there was more ice than you could possibly imagine (for a rink). A complete lack of fitness and having not skated properly in around nine months left me pretty much dead at the end of my skating stint.

Frozen waterfall

Oslo got darned cold for a while. A good demonstration of how chilly it got is this waterfall which was almost totally frozen over.
