@miss_jwo Perhaps the templating side of it could be abstracted out? Then it could be a core class with a customisable templating layer?

@miss_jwo It needs a better name too. The one on it at the moment was only intended to be temporary until I came up with something better.

@miss_jwo I only have that sitting there because I didn't want to see the original one get left to die.

Awesome post by @wonderboymusic about understanding MySQL in WordPress … http://wp.me/p2pjX1-5fY

RT @jonbergan: Woah, this is big. Opera moves to WebKit: http://my.opera.com/ODIN/blog/300-million-users-and-move-to-webkit (via @anna_debenham)

@bjornjohansen I've used a few different systems before, but I'm never sure which one to recommend (someone asked me about it this evening).

@bjornjohansen Was it similar to this? https://github.com/YahnisElsts/plugin-update-checker. @konstruktors made something ages back too.

Do any of you have preferences for how to handle third-party automatic update systems in WordPress plugins?

@AKiwiInGermany I'm posting bits of homework on a blog of mine. I'm hoping they'll be amusing to look back on once I finally master it

@AKiwiInGermany Can you speak much German yet? My Norwegian is kinda crap, but I'm slowly getting there.

@AKiwiInGermany Oh dear! A German teacher sounds far scary than any Norwegian teacher could possibly be. Our teacher is lovely.

Yuss! Managed to finish all my homework before class tomorrow Norwegian classes sometimes make me feel like I'm back in high school.

@rmccue @paul_wp Can services like Github that though? Or would you need to push directly to the server from your own machine?

@paul_wp I don't think Git on the server would be faster than sftp as you need to wait 60 seconds for a Cron to fire before it will start.

@paul_wp @trepmal True. You can definitely deploy via Git itself if it's running on the server though.

@NinjaLikesCheez Yer safe for a while since I now know you are actually using it for something important.

@paul_wp @trepmal You can also run a Cron on the server, which automatically pulls the changes in every minute.

@paul_wp @trepmal Yes, you can deploy with Git. I use Beanstalk a lot, which has a built in Git deployment system.

I almost deleted it this weekend, but got distracted with sledding instead. Just noticed you are using it for a live site now.

@ninjalikescheez I'm going to delete the hosting account you are using for http://faptrackr.org, so you'd better move it

@trepmal I started the same way too. I quite like deploying stuff with Git now though. It makes for a much smoother process.

@trepmal Are you deploying your projects with Git now? Or just using it for version control and manually copying stuff over?

I flew and crashed my first radio controlled air plane 5 mins ago http://ryanhellyer.net/2013/02/09/my-first-plane-crash/

4:20am right now. I spent the whole night learning how to write bash scripts. Very satisfying, albeit rather geeky.

Tip for the day: Disable logs in the redirection plugin for WordPress (http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/redirection/). Otherwise it'll fill your DB up mega fast!

@itsananderson @mkjones @johnbillion This might come in handy for strings to block automatically … http://code.google.com/p/g0tmi1k/source/browse/trunk/wordlists/500-worst-passwords.txt?r=33

@itsananderson @mkjones @johnbillion It might be a good idea to include a check for obvious strings in passwords.

@DeFries The git-> SVN thing? Or the plugin I just mentioned from @itsananderson? I agree either way

@itsananderson Without a block in place, people use some very disturbingly passwords!

@itsananderson I'm very confident your plugin has saved some of our clients at @metronet from having their websites compromised.

My review of the latest plugin from @itsananderson … http://wordpress.org/support/topic/awesome-plugin-102?replies=1#post-

Awesome plugin! RT @itsananderson: I finally put my "Minimum Password Strength" plugin on the .org repo http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/minimum-password-strength/

@trepmal I've never seen the Github app. For visualisation I sometimes use Git GUI. There's a Mac app. called Tower which seems popular too.

@DeFries For Git? Just something very simple I wrote myself. It doesn't handle commit messages though, which rules it out for most purposes.

@paul_wp @RichStaats I heard a rumour that @konstruktors has something to do with the slides/photos app. for #WCNorge

@trepmal I set up a handy little bash script this evening for doing rapid commit/pushes for one of my repos. One click to deploy

@trepmal I am slowly getting better at Git. It ate my brain for a while, but it has slowly grown back

@paul_wp @RichStaats That wasn't me. But I'll find out who it was for you and put them in touch with you.

@no_fear_inc I can't find conflicting plugins. Maybe I need to look harder. DNS seems unlikely since I have this problem on two servers.

@no_fear_inc Faulty, as in no updates are showing up. It looks like there are no updates, even though there definitely should be.

The server can do http requests just fine. Any ideas how to debug a faulty WordPress update checker?

As soon as I sent my last tweet I had an epiphany and suddenly thought to check if the server can do https requests.

@wptavern I miss your insightful and occasionally controversial posts of the past. Some of your best were back in the Jeffro2pt0 days.

@wptavern @angiemeeker Just make sure you are happy with doing it. Writing about WordPress should never become a chore.

@wptavern Could you get permission to merge the Tavern posts with another blog? That'd keep the posts alive even if the Tavern dies.

@wptavern Perhaps you could guest post for others? That'd leave you to post when you want to rather than when you feel you should.

@wptavern What @angiemeeker says is true. If you don't have the passion, there's no point in continuing.

@wptavern Perhaps you should come join @wprealm? It's a really fun group to work with.

@wptavern Those other sites have shot to prominence because WPTavern kinda dropped off the radar.

@ipstenu @bjornjohansen I mentioned you guys in a comment on the Trac ticket … http://core.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/23333#comment:28

@ipstenu Do you know if there's a ticket or conversation somewhere this was debated? I'd like to read what the logic was in changing it.

@ipstenu Oops! I kept putting typos in and hoped I was deleting them before anyone noticed!

Whoa! Ma admin panel icons just changed in WordPress! The fun of using trunk on your live site

@nakrissimo Sounds awesome! Have fun with @oyvindmb! In the mean time I'm going to continue appreciating the sun and snow combo in Oslo

I'm mentioned in an article by the lovely @SiobhanPMcKeown http://wp.smashingmagazine.com/2013/02/01/wordpress-community-offers-advice-beginners/

@nakrissimo I find it disturbing that my email provider takes significantly more security precautions than my bank.

@nakrissimo Norwegian bank websites suck hard. Someone needs to grab their IT people and smack them with the common sense stick.

An excellent article about web security http://www.kalzumeus.com/2013/01/31/what-the-rails-security-issue-means-for-your-startup/. Found via @andrea_r on Google+.
