We visited the Fairlie ice rink during the Aardwolfs Southern Migration. Not a lot to see really, just a mud bog!
The Aardwolfs babes provided some amusement by strutting their stuff for the camera.
I was dressed in a Yellow Eyed Penguin suit as the mascot for the World Friendship Ice Hockey Games. There were teams from USA, Canada, Australia, Korea and New Zealand. The suit was ridiculously hot inside and skating became more of a sliding waddle
The kids seemed to enjoy it though and none of them kicked me in the balls
I wore a cup just in case though
The games were actually in May this year, but I didn’t get these photos till just now. Thanks for the photos Daria
I did a bunch of videos of our trip to the Manorburn dam recently. They aren’t very long and I don’t have any of myself unfortunately
There was lots of pond hockey on the Manorburn dam. But of course, I and anyone else with a camera was playing in it! So I don’t have any photos of me playing
But here’s some action photos of the others.
After some wickedly cold temperatures in Alexandra, I took Sarah, Jane and Kara through to Alexandra to go skating on the Manorburn dam. This was the first time I’d skated on it since I was about 12! Stu McLennan has kindly lent me the former Matt Mobile while he’s away in Australia which we used to make our way to the dam. Thanks very much Stu
Ice coverage was pretty decent, up to about 15cm in some parts.
Some people were even skating right up to the edge of the dam. But I didn’t have the guts to try that!
We had another Brooker Bunch group photo done. This time was by a professional photographer and will be used in advertising for Sally’s inaugural professorial lecture. As you can tell, I’m not a big fan of having my photo taken
The Dunedin Beasts team which I’m playing for in the Southern Ice Hockey League made a trip to Queenstown to play against a Queenstown team. We lost, but had heaps of fun en route
