@obenland http://phpxref.ftwr.co.uk/wordpress/nav.html?wp-admin/includes/image.php.html

@obenland Yup, what I actually need though was something to hook into AFTER the file is created. Which I think is wp_create_thumbnail().

I think I found it … wp_create_thumbnail(). It seems tweeting is a good way to set off a lightbulb in my head

Trying to figure out at which point WordPress creates post thumbnails. Any ideas? I'm attempting to move files to S3 on creation.

@th3j35t3r Why did you post a photo of yourself online? That doesn't seem like a good idea.

@gcaat I hope none of my relatives are secretly reading my tweets, or this could be a real awkward turtle moment.

@shawngaffney Yup, change away from jQuery caused it. I'll revert it back to using jQuery to solve the problem.

@shawngaffney I assume it's due to a change of jQuery to raw JS early this evening. If that is the case, then I'll fix it ASAP.

@zamoose @rzen @wptavern @CoenJacobs Just logged in now. Seems to work very well.

@zamoose I want the same thing. I'd also like to know who NEVER tweets on my follow list, so I can cull them out.

RT @zamoose: Is there some sort of a service that will analyze your Twitter follow list and tell you who is most active, etc.?

@bjornjohansen That would be easier for spammers to work around, but would handle long-term static caching well.

@bjornjohansen I could have a toggle which made the plugin only compare the cookie with the input field. If they don't match -> dead spam.

@bjornjohansen Tthat could happen on my site 100s per day, but I guess is somewhat more of a problem if you are caching for 10 days.

@bjornjohansen It currently uses an MD5 hashed nonce, but that only updates once per 24 hours.

@bjornjohansen For public release, I made it dynamic, but it is not necessary.

@bjornjohansen Nope, it can be the same key every time. It does make it easy for spammers to hack around though.

@bjornjohansen The version I've been using for over a year, kept the same key for over a year.

@bjornjohansen When I was writing it, I probably forgot that people use Super Cache etc. which hold cache data for an awfully long time.

@bjornjohansen My cache refreshes every 100s or so, so that wouldn't have affected me.

@bjornjohansen I'll work on caching the kill.php file contents at a later date. That kills two birds with one stone.

@bjornjohansen Pages can currently be cached (mine are), it's just the kill.php file which can't be cached.

@bjornjohansen I'm surprised I let that one slip through. I think I forgot about it since it wasn't in the regular WP flow.

Spam Destroyer 1.2.2 is now out, featuring improvements by @bjornjohansen http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/spam-destroyer/

@bjornjohansen It works http://ryanhellyer.net/wp-content/plugins/spam-destroyer/kill.php?key=YepThisThingWorks

@bjornjohansen Do you have a website I can link to? Trying to credit you in the plugin files.

@bjornjohansen @ronalfy I'd love to avoid jQuery. My JS skills suck so bad I have no idea how though. Changing it is on my todo list.

@bjornjohansen I know very little about JS and didn't understand how document.ready works.

@bjornjohansen I've had a chat with my JS guru @ronalfy, who after some debate agreed with your stance. So I'll move it to the footer

@bjornjohansen I grok the concept, but there are advantages to loading it in the head too.

@bjornjohansen I don't care about themes without wp_footer(). No one should be using those anyway.

@bjornjohansen I'll either change the default behaviour, or create some sort of toggle system to allow you to change it.

@bjornjohansen Thanks for the feedback btw! Hard to know how well it's working without feedback.

@bjornjohansen I'm unsure which is the best to do by default. Benefits either way.

How to write a better support request by @andrea_r … http://wprealm.com/blog/writing-a-better-support-forum-request/

@metodiew My idea was for something 1 on 1 between site owner and visitor, so scalability wasn't an issue.

@metodiew I was talking about custom building something last week. There are major difficulties in scaling something with WordPress though.

@ipstenu I dunno what your next step is in life, but it sounds like it is going to be quite epic. Congratulations on whatever it is

@simonwheatley @metodiew Simple answer. Don't I have no good solution for it.

@obenland @rarst Version numbers are useful, but also a performance hog, so I'm on the fence on whether removing them from WP is good or not

@obenland @rarst Doesn't seem like something which should be part of a default theme. Although I think that of most things in 2010 &2011.

@Rarst 24 hours later, and bits of my site began breaking as the Cloudfront cache purged itself!

@Rarst I made the mistake of switching Cloudfront to not pass query var information (apparently it's faster).

@Rarst Any query vars of any sort. There's a plugin I found that does it for you, so solved that problem last night.
