@socialspace Wha? If you thought I was not geeky, then you must be thinking of someone else
woop woop, ma @linode is back up and running http://ryanhellyer.net/
@thomir Silverlight!?
Darn it! My server at the Newark @linode data center still appears to be down The server gods don't like me today it seems.
Awww, my box in the Newark @linode data center is down
@webgarb I could, but I trust my Twitter followers more than the popularity listings in the Play store.
@jan_dembowski Thanks. Installing now
Play has a billion ssh apps for Android. Any recommendations?
@KarinBron I'm not sure what the status is on WP Paintbrush. @danmilward may know more.
@KarinBron I'm not involved with that project anymore sorry. It'll be caused by changes in the theme API in WordPress 3.4 I suspect.
@ferodynamics @KyeLani Norway is awesome!
@ferodynamics @KyeLani What is "demo scene"?
@KyeLani Shocking eh! We even have coloured TV too
@KyeLani FYI, we're hiring if you are in the mood to move to Norway http://www.metronet.no/are-you-our-next-codepoet
@KyeLani I've needed work urgently before too and people always came to the rescue, so am happy to pass it forward
No idea who this girl is, but she needs WordPress work urgently … @KyeLani. Help if you can please
@KarinBron I don't know if anyone is monitoring the paintbrush Twitter account now. That bug popped up in WordPress version 3.4 I think.
@bronsonquick Nope. Hadn't seen it. Thanks for the link I can consign mine to the plugin graveyard now then.
I'm famous on the interwebz today courtesy of @SiobhanPMcKeown … http://wprealm.com/blog/introducing-the-wp-realm-technical-contributors/
RT @SiobhanPMcKeown: Welcome @joe_hoyle @bluelimemedia @__jester and @ryanhellyer to WP Realm! http://wprealm.com/blog/introducing-the-wp-realm-technical-contributors/
@andrea_r @markmcwilliams @zedejose That's it! I'm pissed. I'm a girl and I still have no boobs to play with Not fair!
@ngaireackerley That was also partly the work of @ronalfy and @scottbasgaard …. http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/metronet-reorder-posts/
@webgarb I am apparently a girl in Portuguese; one of the ugliest girls in the history of humankind.
@jennybeaumont You should make your wish happen then
@Mamaduka All help appreciated First job … better name … https://github.com/ryanhellyer/ryans-twitter-widget/
@ipstenu @andrea_r I hate forking stuff. Already half-arsedly maintaining a Wickett Twitter fork.
@andrea_r @angiemeeker Yuck. That's unfortunate.
@angiemeeker I'm pretty sure SafeCSS has support for that functionality too.
Everyone should come join me in Portugal next month http://2012.lisboa.wordcamp.org/2012/08/28/orador-confirmado-ryan-hellyer/ via @WordCampLx #wclx12
@vodafoneNZ We need Google to launch gBank
@vodafoneNZ I thought Kiwi banks were the worst for security. Then I moved to Norway … seems they're even worse.
@vodafoneNZ Nice to see more companies taking security seriously. I don't think SMS is the best option, but much better than nothing.
RT @vodafoneNZ: The @Dropbox team have enabled two factor authentication, sends txt code to your phone or there's an app too. Nice. http …
@anthonycole I still don't get it? Or will you give it to me when we meet again? #induendo
@Th0masMB The particular theme I was looking at does indeed use TimThumb.
I need a copy of the latest Canvas Woo theme. Anyone able to help? I need to compare it to an older version of it I'm working on.
@JohnPBloch If it's for caching, then using the caching API would make most sense IMO.
@anthonycole I don't get it.
If your WP theme has a "cache" folder in it, you are most likely doing something wrong.
@angiemeeker Sort of. There's a temporary link to it here … http://geek.ryanhellyer.net/products/photocopy/
@ipstenu Double lolz.
@ipstenu lolz. They should be glad you aren't feeling evil today.
@EricMann @Rarst That's a relief. Your country can be a little scary when it comes to this sort of stuf.
@Rarst You'd better watch out, or the great noodly one will strike you down with a furious vengeance.
@Rarst I guess that depends on whether you think I want more rational intelligent people in society or not.
@Rarst Scarily, according that post, 5% of people from the USA consider themselves atheists. WTF?
Demonstration of Norwegian craziness … http://ryanhellyer.net/2012/08/26/linderudkollen-hoppsenter/

RIP Neil Armstrong
@kevinjohng Frontpage still counts as a CMS in my books. Just a really crappy one.
@markoheijnen @konstruktors and I were hammering it this morning via ApacheBench, but an external service would be more accurate.
@markoheijnen Do you know of any good external load testing services? I want to see how much traffic it can actually take.
@markoheijnen My old setup was pretty much the slowest WordPress site on the planet. Truly appalling. Glad to be learning how to avoid that.
@markoheijnen I'm on a quest to make my site run faster. 97/100 so far http://tools.pingdom.com/fpt/#!/MMOwCBDIP/ryanhellyer.net
@markoheijnen You can do page specific caching by adding a URL check in advanced-cache.php.
@markoheijnen I have zero experience with multi-server setups. No idea on that front sorry.
@markoheijnen APC by @markjaquith on it's own is ideal for uber dynamic sites. No full page caching is used then. It just runs faster
@markoheijnen Settings are in advanced-cache.php in the batcache plugin. For super dynamic sites it's maybe not use useful.
@markoheijnen You can set it to only serve cached pages when the traffic loads gets excessively high.
@markoheijnen basic use of APC is trivial. Install on server, switch on object caching plugin … instant speed boost
@markoheijnen FYI, Batcache works with @markjaquith 's APC object cache plugin. No need for memcache despite what the Batcache readme says.
@markoheijnen Makes more sense for single server IMO too.
@markoheijnen I nice fork of Batcache would be good. Not sure I'm the person for that though. Needs a bit more skill I think.
@markoheijnen Coz ya just casually surf websites via the source code
@markoheijnen Oops, I forgot to turn the HTML compression on. Will fix that on the weekend.
@markoheijnen I was wondering when someone would question me about it I probably won't release it as it's not much different to batcache.
@markoheijnen It's a fork of Batcache. Includes stuff like HTML compression and auto-copies the advanced-cache.php file across like W3 etc.
@markoheijnen lol
@ipstenu Would you actually help someone with a Windows server? I'd just run away screaming.
@kevinjohng Another comparison stat … how many aren't using a CMS at all. There's still a lot of static sites out there.
@kevinjohng A more useful stat though might be how many of the NEW sites in the top 1,000,000 are using an open source CMS.
@kevinjohng Interesting stat.
@nakrissimo Did you attend the WordPress meetup in Oslo this evening? Many people there?
@jarlebergersen Sorry about that. A last minute change of Norwegian class schedule put paid to my intentions of coming tonight.
@no_fear_inc @nikolayb Ya'll need more info. posted http://2012.sofia.wordcamp.org/
@no_fear_inc What is WCBG? Bulgaria perhaps? If so, when is it?

@Becs @gcaat Imagine having a giant fat fluffy bird chilling out in your backyard. Can't run away, can't fly away, yet still cute and cuddly
@Becs @gcaat If a company thinks it can make money by selling them as pets, they might bankroll research into breeding them faster.
@Becs @gcaat A friend of mine had a crazy idea about saving them via commercialisation of them.
@Becs @gcaat A more pleasing bit of info about Kakapo … http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Kakapo-population-size.svg
@MaryFrances110 I noticed something was a bit odd about it recently. Still seems to work just fine though.
New blog post: Cycling around Oslo … http://ryanhellyer.net/2012/08/20/kringlevann/
@danielbachhuber Is there some way I can contact you directly? I have something you may find useful.
@rmccue Can you think of any examples where it could cause problems? I always assumed it was a cookie issue.
@rmccue Isn't the security problem an issue of stealing admin panel cookies?
@rmccue Would messing with cookies be a way to bypass the security problems rather than sanitizing the JS?
@Mamaduka @rmccue @danielbachhuber That's what I thought until hearing otherwise.
@rmccue @danielbachhuber This will be a very nice killer addition to http://WordPress.com.
@rmccue I intended to add revisioning and syntax highlighting eventually.
@rmccue I'll wait to see what @danielbachhuber 's is like first. If it's better, then no point in continuing my own.
@danielbachhuber I needed something ASAP… http://geek.ryanhellyer.net/?p=2395. Once yours is released I'll probably forward people towards that.
@r_diamond Happy Birthday
@webgarb Thanks for your assistance anyway. I've started writing it now.
@rmccue Also, how the heck do you sanitize JS? That sounds impossibly difficult.
@rmccue Do you need it with security protection? If not, where do you want the admin page placed? I'm about to build this right now.
@webgarb That is for adding to specific pages, I need something for adding JS to the whole front-end at once, like how SafeCSS does for CSS.
